Wei Qingji
Born in 1947 and graduated from Nanjing Art Institute in 1977, Wang, Mengqi is 72 years old now, and is a professor of Shanghai University School of Fine Arts, doctoral tutor, visiting professor of Nanjing Art Institute, painter of Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, member of Chinese Artists Association, executive director of Shanghai Artists Association , National first-class artist, researcher of China National Academy of Painting. He is regarded as the representative painter of "new literati painting" in the art world.
In the 1970s, the art world was very grey and are works were of the same style. He found his own way in the villain's book, and created more than 30 comics and more than 30 Chinese paintings in 13 years. People nowadays cannot paint what they want, but they can learn the ancient’s spirit to indulge in the landscape and free their soul. This unrestricted style and spirit is very similar to people in Weijin Period. People should enjoy the four seasons, day and night, tasty tea and nice drink, fragrant flowers and fruitful fruits, which are all the best in the world. Where’s people’s happiness? They can be gentleman’s, farmers, children’s, and even worm’s. Who is as happy as I am? Oh, it’s the laughing Maitreyan.
